Literature Text

Look, look at the Greedy Pigs
Snorting at the trough.
"Move over, Comrade!"
"Move over Boet!"
"I say, old chap, give me some room!"
Shoving and pushing
snorting and gulping.
the Greedy Pigs
wallow and belch.
Between gulps they collude,
strategise their holy grail,
the revenue model.
Bread, cellphones, beer,
entertainment, gym -
the idea is the same.

'Tie them down and
rope them in, squeeze them
until they bleed.
They come back
begging for more.'

And up above
between and around,
The Celestial One
looks at his shining sons
Buddha / Mahommed / Christ / Krishna.
A deep sigh trembles the heavens and earth.

"Ah, my sons, let us start again."
A shout of protest against the rampant greed afflicting this country ( and it seems the rest of the world). The references to Comrade, Boet (Afrikaans for brother) and 'chaps' implies that the brotherhood of Pigdom transcends any racial lines. Pigs are all colours under the sun.
